thaliasaysz asked: you give amazing advice even when it doesnt involve fashion. i love you blog its great(: my question is what advice would u give to a person trying to start a fashion blog ?

Thank you. :)

There is quite a bit you want to take into consideration in running a (successful) blog, especially geared in fashion.

  • Layout/Customization - Less is more. Keeping a simple well laid out theme allows your viewer to remain focused on your entries and not to be distracted by an overdone background image, extreme colors, or what not. Organization within your theme will also help keep focus on your blog entries but be a tool for whatever extras you may put in. (Links, Affiliates, Widgets)
  • Define your blog - You always want to have a clear objective of what your blog is. Defining it simply as fashion is fine. If you want a certain target audience define it more so. Some people prefer to post all editorials, some all street style, others like me mesh various types together. However, it all falls under fashion. I too often see people proclaiming their blog as fashion but they are posting images of food more so than fashion. It gives the reader a false pretense.
  • Advertise yourself - Shamelessly promoting and getting yourself advertised will help you. I love how people are constantly telling themselves and others they don’t care about a follower count and neither should you. It isn’t necessarily about the follower count but knowing you have people reading and reviewing your blog is the goal of why you created your blog in the first place, right? Don’t be ashamed of it. The more you are able to get your blog’s name out there to the public, the more people you will be tracking to your site. Join websites geared towards the fashion industry such as Independent Fashion Bloggers, The Fashion Spot, Bloglovin, ect. Utilize the social media to your advantage.
  • Give credit where credit is due - Crediting the source of the photo or article you have found will give you a lot more respect with others more so than people who don’t. It will also show that you are responsible and respectable enough. On a couple of occasions people have changed the source codes on photos they’ve reblogged from me. I was not hesitant about contacting and asking them to change it back. Last thing you want or need is a conflict with the original owner of the photo coming to you.
  • Keeping it active - but not too active. People dislike it when you don’t post enough or post too much. The queue option is what I use primarily daily for all my posts. That way I don’t have to worry about not being able to post if I am not home and it will also be spread out through out the entire day. I recommend it especially if you lead a busy life.
  • Produce inspiring or original content - one of the most important of them all is putting out content that the reader wants to read and share.

Good luck to you and hope my pointers will help you!
