“Monday was a big day for Belstaff. Not only did the company stage its first runway show since its ambitious 2011 relaunch, but the day also marked the opening of the house’s Madison Avenue store. There was a palpable buzz of anticipation before the show, and all eyes were on Martin Cooper, chief creative officer. 

For his spring collection, he focused on one main idea: retooling Belstaff’s core classics, such as the Trialmaster jacket, infusing a light and relaxed sensibility with fabrics and a play on volume. Citing vintage luggage and the romanticism of travel as inspiration, he featured stripes throughout the clothes, adding a sporty feel to silk dresses, T-shirts, moto coats, jackets and skirts. Utilitarian and safari-inspired numbers looked chic and polished, and are likely to be popular with the Upper East Side clients.”
